Meet William Knudson, Facilities Manager
Three years ago, Bill tried (and failed) early retirement and he has been at Nonin Medical for two years. Bill’s work at Nonin is bifurcated with time in his office with real estate, supplier relationship, compliance and other operational tasks and time in his work room and within the space they occupy doing maintenance, repairs and other space and staff working environment improvement activity. When Bill came to Nonin, he quickly realized that Nonin had a severe clutter problem and there was much opportunity for order.
Over the last two years, Nonin has consolidated from two buildings to one and he has approached virtually everything he does with an eye towards order and repeatable behavior.
Nonin has established an office recycling center for employees to drop off e-waste, shredding, single stream recycling and trash. They have a very small Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste License from Hennepin County and the recycling and proper waste disposal compliance requirements that come with that license.
There is always opportunity for process and behavior improvement and more waste to eliminate and every time you make progress you improve the quality of life in the workplace, and you are motivated to continue to improve.
