Learn more about what it takes to get Provost Clean with Provost Building Services.

Chemicals

When it comes to a good choice in what type of soap to use for cleaning windows, we keep it simple. Dawn dishwashing liquid and distilled water (when possible).

Using distilled water will eliminate the water spots caused by the calcium in tap water. Mix in some ethanol or isopropyl alcohol to help the windows dry faster, especially on humid days.

General Cleaning Process

  1. Remove cobwebs and loose dirt, wet the windows with a swab or water-fed pole system.
  2. Squeegee the windows paying close attention to edges and corners, wipe the blade clean after each stroke with a dry rag.
  3. Wipe edges and corners of window to remove the water caught under the rubber gaskets If you skip this step, you might notice streaks once the water escapes from under the gaskets and dries around the edges of the pane.

Hard Water Removal

An acid-based cleaner and razorblades can be used to remove stubborn white water spots from windows.

Temperature

Windows can be cleaned in the winter months, but not below freezing. Preferable to be done in spring and fall months.

Leave it to the professionals at Provost Building Services to ensure that your building windows meet our standards, Provost Clean.
